Thrillers
Thrillers often take place wholly or partly in exotic settings such as foreign cities, deserts, polar regions, or high seas.
Thrillers contain heros and villians. Usally the hero in a thriller are frequently "hard men" accustomed to danger. E.G, law enforcement officers, spies, soldiers, seamen, or aviators or even an ordanry citizen that has become part of the danger by accedent. Mostly men are the heros but women can also be the hero.
In a thriller the crime has to on a much bigger scale, like a serial or mass murder, terrorism, kidnapping, assassination, or the overthrow of governments. Thrillers will over lap with a series of events and mystery stories. A mystery climaxes when the mystery is solved, a thriller climaxes when the hero finally defeats the villain, by putting tem in prison or is destroyed in one way or another. The hero will be the person who saves his life and others and defeating the villain.

Science Fiction/Techno/Horror thrillers: Jurassic Park, Aliens vs. Predator
Techno/Political/Conspiracy/Military/Horror Thriller: Predator, Robocop, S.M. Stirling's Draka novels
Legal/Forensic/Psychological/Horror thriller: Thomas Harris' The Silence of the Lambs, novel, Seven (film).
